Ickler GmbH started making private label watches in 1990, and began
planning their own brand soon after that. Led by Thomas Ickler, grandson
of the founder, they hand picked a team of talented designers, master
craftsmen and watchmakers, and began planning the Limes (pronounced
Leem-ess) line. Their objective was to offer superior quality, plus
classic design, combined with exceptional value. This objective have been
As one of only a select group of watch makers who manufacture their own cases, Limes has been able to incorporate unexpectedly premium features in their moderately priced line. For example, Limes secures the case backs of its watch with individual screws, the most desirable method. This costly, labor intensive practice is usually reserved only for watches in the luxury class. By manufacturing our own cases, rather than having to outsource them at additional cost, Limes offers uncompromised quality, combined with attractive prices. They employ a team of talented, experienced professionals and have created a line that features distinctive, yet classic designs, that will look as good in 20 years as they do today.
Limes has purposely chosen to only make mechanical watches. The majority of Limes models feature highly modified and decorated Swiss ETA Automatic movements. These extensive modifications include Nivarox One hairsprings, and Glucydur balances, along with adjusting the movements to five positions . These upgraded movements are then decorated with extensive Cotes de Geneve, Perlage and blued screws that can be easily observed through the display backs of the German made cases - each one made in their third generation, family owned Pforzheim factory.
