George Schaeren began earning his reputation for innovative watch design on November
11, 1918, the day he founded Mido Watch. Introduced in 1934, the Mido Multifort was the worlds first waterproof, shock-resistant, antimagnetic, automatic wristwatch. Having been the most popular Mido watch design through the 1960s, the Multifort was relaunched in 1998 in celebration of the companys 80th anniversary. Todays rendition of this old favorite combines an Arabic dial, reminiscent of the 1940s, with the latest in autoquartz technology. In addition to its traditional collection, Mido produces a line of highly technical watches offering unique benefits. The Mido Sport Chrono is a dynamic and handsome chronograph, water-resistant to 100 meters with a PVD coating (improving wear and abrasion resistance), quartz movement, sapphire crystal, and screwed and engraved steel crown. The Aquadura system, a Mido Watch hallmark, is responsible for Midos reputation as King of Water-Proof Watches. This water-resistant system protects the watch with a specially-machined and treated cork component at its most vulnerable point, the winder opening. The Mido watch chic, beautiful in design and function, and truly innovative in technology. |
