Charles Marburg

Paintings by Charles Marburg

"I find inspiration all over the place, but most of the time it's a matter of working everyday and responding to what's there from yesterday's work."

Charles Marburg works out each of his ideas through a series of canvas. He paints multiple pieces simultaneously, creating a variety of perspectives to explore myriad facets of the subject matter. Ideas often force him to push the limits of his paintings and to seek out new materials and techniques.

Each group of paintings takes 3-4 months to complete, and then he's ready to start on a new batch. Sometimes these works evolve into their own distinct set of ideas, generating an entirely new series of paintings.
