Fascinated with narrative text and evocative imagery, Chuck Russell paints and forms multiple wood panels into sacred and profane works of art. The enigmatic plywood panels are constructed in a related fashion and reflect a similar mood in spite of their individuality. Text is laid down first and is followed by latex paint brushed around the wording. Central panels are often finished with a thin application of roofing tar that provides a lush, abstract feel. |
