In reverse painting, Benyshek lays a sheet of glass facedown on a table and paints its back, detailing first those features that will appear closest. As glass magnifies the physical distance between paint glazes, colors acquire a jewel-like brilliance. |

Denita Benyshek's perception of reality is richly layered. Magic, fantasy, visions, and dreams are seamlessly interwoven with nonlinear time and the reverie of discontinuous space. All is inspired by a belief in the transcendent power of beauty. These layers of reality and meaning are echoed in her choice of media: reversed-painted and engraved glass, collage, and mirrors.
