Donna McGinnis

Paintings by Donna McGinnis

"My art is about discovering myself through investigating my responses to common objects, places and events."

Donna McGinnis works with a wide range of two-dimensional media. From pencils to pastel, acrylic paint to oil, she relishes the processes of creation fostered by the use of such varied techniques and tools.

Though the medium commonly varies, McGinnis admits that all of her artwork maintains a strong sense of drawing. Her skill and accuracy has often led to the label of a photo-realist, but she avoids using such terminology herself. For McGinnis, the oversize canvas, dramatic palettes and realistic representations are purely a product of her attempts to render the common uncommon.
