Janet Bloch's influences include family photos, comic books, advertisements from the 1950s and 60s and the decorative folk arts of numerous cultures. Each painting takes about a month to complete as Bloch interweaves the stories and borders to create a sense of fantasy and to interject commentary, horror and humor.
