Roger Kizik

Paintings by Roger Kizik

"My sources are often seaside cottages and boatyards that I interpret in an expressive technique. I seek the spirit and personality of a place or object."Painting by Roger Kizik

As Picasso believed, to draw a thing is to possess it. This is how Roger Kizik honors the pull he feels towards the wildlife, boats, and cottages of the East Coast. Even in the winter there are great views out his windows. On a good day you can see across Buzzard's Bay.

Part of what Kizik does is to make "visual toys." Every picture is a little game. We are left to intuit and then alter the rules. By the time we come away from them, there's a new game looming ahead.
