Frederic Choisel

Photography by Frederic Choisel

"Why I take a photograph: to stop the world long enough to see the depth and beauty surrounding me on earth."

Frederic Choisel has a passion for making harmony out of disharmony and chaos. By combining seemingly discordant elements in his composite prints, Choisel achieves his goals and creates a deeper sense of meaning, illustrating the concept that the sum is greater than the parts.

Choisel forms the composite prints by superimposing a color photographic transparency of a natural element over a black-and-white transparency. Taken exclusively on slide photographic film with the use of a medium format camera, the images are slightly underexposed to ensure a transparent aspect.
