Sothis watches Sothis Watches are the creation of innovative watch designer Wolfgang Steinkrueger, who created Sothis in 1996 in Bielefeld, Germany in a lovely mountain valley between the Wiehen-Mountains and the Teutoburg Forest. By creating his own brand after years of making fine watches for other companies, Steinkruger was able to fufill his dream to combine technical innovation with beautiful design in a unique vision inspired by a star. Sothis is named after one of the night sky's brightest stars, which is better known in English as Sirus, the Dog Star. This star, following the great hunter Orion in the night sky symbolizes the faithful companion of the ages time.

All Sothis timepieces are handmade automatic mechanical watches of the highest quality, watches that will be enjoyed for generations. Sothis is known in particular for its beautiful and innovative moon phase indicators, like the moon phase dial indicator on the Sothis Spirit of the Moon Chronographs. Why do collectors value Sothis watches? The fanatical attention to detail in their construction. The movements are refined with blued screws, polished bridges, and engraved rotors. You can enjoy the precision of the movement by watching it through the skeleton sapphire case back. Many Sothis chronographs even have finely embellished gold-plated rotors.

Notable Characteristics of Sothis Watches

Sothis watches feature automatic mechanical Valjoux 7751, 7750 Tricompax, and Dubois Depraz movements. Styles are available with metal bracelets or black, yellow or red crocodile straps with deployant buckles. All Sothis watches are water resistant to 50 meters. Cases are created in steel, gold, or platinum. As you might expect for watches that are so carefully handmade, all Sothis watches are created in limited editions of only 200 to 500 pieces. Precious metal watches are limited to editions of only 50. These editions are sought by collectors in Europe, the Middle East, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Canada, and the United States.
