The Wittnauer story is the saga of a marriage between Swiss ingenuity and American know-how. Albert Wittnauer stepped off the boat into the New York City of 1876 and in several years became heir to the great company that produced the first Longines watches. Albert and his growing family established a watch dynasty to rival the burgeoning watch companies of an industrialized America working in high gear towards the future. Today, over a hundred years later, Wittnauer International, Inc. still produces some of the finest watches the New World--and the Old one--has seen.

Craftsmanship of Wittnauer Watches

Wittnauer is understandably proud of its Mineron crystal, a tempered mineral glass much harder than ordinary mineral glass. The surgical grade stainless steel it employs is corrosion-resistant and less likely to react to the skin. All bracelets are tested for flexibility and retention. Its bands are genuine leather and color will not run when exposed to perspiration. All models are water resistant. The high-density 23 karat gold-plated finish also resists corrosion and scratches and perspiration that can cause adhesion problems. Its movements are accurate Swiss quartz for long-term use. The dials are high purity brass, many with protective hard lacquer finishes and gilt-finished markers.
